Position Summary

This incumbent provides interior design support to the UGA campus community and the Office of the University Architects for Facilities Planning (OUA). The role supports the Senior Project Manager Interior Designer in leading OUA’s interior design activities and upholding stewardship responsibilities for design excellence, campus image, appropriateness, comfort, and durability. The position involves effective client relations management and collaborates with OUA Project Managers, external design professionals, and UGA stakeholders on interior finish, furniture selection, and spatial layouts for projects such as residence halls, classrooms, research laboratories, libraries, office spaces, recreation areas, and varsity sports venues.

This appointment is limited-term but may be extended if project volume and complexity remain high.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Knowledge of furniture sourcing and vendor resources.
  • Basic knowledge of ADA and sustainability considerations.
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and results-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite programs.
  • Willingness to learn new software technology and processes.
  • Proficiency with Sketch‑Up or similar modeling and rendering programs.
  • Familiarity with Blue Beam Revu software.
  • Effective client relations management and ability to work with diverse teams of stakeholders and design professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service.
  • Experience or knowledge in managing construction projects.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze programmatic space/utilization data.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager Interior Designer in all interior design activities, including furniture selection, layout design, installation coordination, and relocation management.
  • Assist OUA Project Managers with furniture procurement, verify room dimensions, inventory existing furniture, schedule relocations, document occupant moves, coordinate multiple parties, and produce layout drawings.
  • Provide interior design concepts for minor studies and proposed renovations.
  • Complete administrative tasks related to procuring furniture, installing furniture, and documenting receipt of items in UGAmart.
  • Obtain and review vendor quotes for furniture purchases, discuss quotes with vendors, and interpret statewide contracts for furnishings and finishes.
  • Schedule meetings with vendors and manufacturers, determine solutions that meet UGA needs within budget constraints, and manage the procurement, scheduling, and installation of FF&E on small capital projects.
  • Manage signage and way finding design and installations to meet UGA standards for all OUA projects.
  • Maintain the interiors library, catalogues, finish samples, and records of interior building finishes and furnishings; document performance of furniture and finishes for future projects, including cost and service data.
  • Oversee student interns daily, delegate tasks to interns as appropriate, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Prepare design proposals, rendering files, and presentation materials for project stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with ADA guidelines, sustainability goals, and project specifications throughout the design process.
