The College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences houses the Entomology department with 38 faculty and a robust graduate student body.
Position OverviewThe Department of Entomology invites applications for a nine‑month tenure‑track (Assistant Professor) position specializing in row crop integrated pest management (IPM) with an emphasis on cotton. The job is budgeted 65% research, 30% extension, and 5% service. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a nationally recognized research and extension program, secure competitive external funding, and publish high‑impact research while mentoring students and engaging in departmental service.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute a nationally recognized research and extension program on row crop IPM.
- Secure external funding and conduct high‑impact research in cotton IPM, including resistance management, applied toxicology, and precision agriculture.
- Publish research in peer‑reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research, field work, and academic progress.
- Engage in extension activities, communicating with row crop producers and stakeholders through traditional and digital media.
- Participate in departmental, university service, and professional outreach activities.
- Ph.D. in Entomology or a related life science discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in IPM theory and practice, including resistance management, applied toxicology, or precision agriculture.
- Evidence of scholarly productivity and ability to secure external funding.
- Excellent communication skills for research dissemination and student mentorship.
- 1–2 years postdoctoral experience.
- Strong record of scholarly achievement and grant writing.
- Experience with agroecology, insect population genetics, and landscape ecology.
- Multistate and international collaboration experience.
- Cover letter summarizing background and qualifications.
