Overall Purpose

The teacher’s principal role is to support the instructional process by developing lesson plans, delivering instruction, supervising students, collaborating with instructional staff, and responding to inquiries from parents and guardians about instructional programs and student progress.

Essential Functions
  • Adapt classroom work to provide students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans.
  • Administer developmental testing programs and subject‑specific assessments to evaluate student competency and develop individualized learning plans trails.

  • Advise parents and legal guardians regarding student progress, expectations, achievements, and strategies for home reinforcement.
  • Assess student progress toward objectives and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, guardians, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives.
  • Demonstrate required teaching methods to meet classroom and subject‑specific requirements for effective programming.
  • Direct assistants, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers, and student workers to support the classroom program.
  • Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined coursework.
  • Manage student behavior to maintain a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Monitor students in a variety of educational environments, including classroom and field trips.
  • Participate in meetings such as Professional Learning Communities to convey and gather necessary information.
  • Prepare written materials, such as grades, attendance, anecdotal records, and meeting minutes, documenting student progress.
  • Report suspected child or substance abuse to the assigned site administrator to maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and industry organizations to resolve issues.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including student behavior problems, health emergencies, and security threats, to resolve immediate safety concerns.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Competencies
  • Skills‑based: proficient in assessment instruments, standard office equipment and accompanying software, document preparation, safety practices, first aid, data analysis, physical restraint, project planning, event promotion, and curriculum techniques.
  • Knowledge‑based: grasp of algebra and geometry, technical reading, documentation, group discussion facilitation, analysis of issues, application of codes, policies, and regulations, lesson plans, child development stages, behavior management strategies, assessment tools, instructional technology istra and culture differencesduce, curriculum updates, health hazards and safety practices, community resource utilization.
  • Ability‑based: schedule meetings, gather data, maintain flexibility, work with diverse individuals, problem‑solve, maintain confidentiality, exhibit patience and tact, work extended hours
Requirements
  • Valid teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.
Physical Requirements

Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; fine finger dexterity. The job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, 40% standing.

Continuing Education/Training

Maintains all licenses and certifications.
