Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or JD and five years related experience in IRB or equivalent human subjects review board working with behavioral, biomedical, and clinical research in an institution of higher education.
  • Current IRB Professional Certification (Certified IRB Professional) is strongly preferred.
Position Summary

The Assistant Director assumes a critical role in the research enterprise. The primary responsibility is to ensure that all human subject research conducted under the auspices of the HRPP is carried out in such a manner that the rights and welfare of participants in research studies are protected and that the institution complies with state, local, and federal regulations, while ensuring efficient and high-quality performance.

Specific responsibilities will include reporting to and working with the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the HRPP and serving as a liaison between IRBs and the research teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Expert knowledge of regulations concerning human research protections (Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 46 and 21 CFR 50 and 56).
