Position Summary

The Department of Romance Languages at the University of Georgia (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of U.S. Latinx Studies and Spanish. We seek a scholar whose research and teaching engage these fields through cultural studies approaches and who draws on a broad range of interdisciplinary methods. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment with orientation activities and teaching duties starting on August 1, 2026.

This position involves teaching language, literature, and culture courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; supporting students in the Spanish B.A. and M.A. programs; and working with doctoral students in the Spanish program and the Romance Languages Department. The successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda, teach two courses per semester, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Responsibilities also include departmental service and participation in recruitment for our programs, which include majors, minors, and study-abroad opportunities.

Collaboration across the university and the ability to foster collegial, supportive working relationships are essential.

Additional Requirements

Native/near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

● Demonstrated expertise in U.S. Latino/a Literature and Culture

● Primary concentration in Chicanx studies, Central American studies, or Border studies with emphasis on the Mexico-U.S. border
