Position Overview
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Phonetics and Phonology with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The teaching load is four courses per year, including introductory and advanced courses in phonetics and phonology and other courses related to the candidate's areas of specialization. Additional duties include advising at all levels and service to the department and university.
Responsibilities- Teach four courses per year (introductory and advanced courses in phonetics and phonology and related courses).
- Advising at all levels of study.
- Service to the department and university.
- Hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related discipline at the time of appointment.
- Have a productive research agenda and the ability to be an excellent teacher and mentor at both undergraduate and graduate level.
- Experience or interest in laboratory phonology, speech technology, and/or corpus and computational methods preferred; research program with potential to attract significant external funding and establish collaborations across disciplines preferred.
