Assistant Professor - Exercise Physiology

The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track position of Assistant Professor in the area of Exercise Physiology, beginning on August 1, 2026.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Exercise Physiology or an appropriate related field
  • Evidence of strong potential to secure external funding
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of postdoctoral research or academic faculty experience
  • Evidence of university teaching and mentoring
  • Demonstrated ability to publish in high‑quality scientific journals
  • History of obtaining funding to support research
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a focus on physical activity/inactivity in the context of cardiometabolic, neurovascular, and/or cerebrovascular health
Responsibilities
  • Establish an independent, nationally recognized research program based on impactful publications in high‑quality peer‑reviewed journals
  • Pursue external funding from federal agencies, foundations, or other relevant sources to support a sustained research program
  • Provide effective undergraduate and graduate teaching in Exercise Science
  • Provide effective student mentoring, including support for theses and dissertations
  • Provide service activities that benefit the Kinesiology department, the University, the profession, and the public at large

This position is contingent on the continued availability of funding.
