This collaborative recruitment involves the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology (College of Veterinary Medicine), the School of Chemical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering, and the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research.
Key Responsibilities- Create an outstanding, internationally recognized translational drug discovery program at the intersection of metabolic engineering and synthetic biology.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations between the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research and the School of Chemical, Materials and Biomedical Engineering.
- Secure extramural funding (NIH, DOD, NSF, pharmaceutical partners) to sustain cutting‑edge research and support integrated graduate and postdoctoral training.
- Establish a dynamic, externally funded research program and contribute significantly to the department’s teaching mission in Biomedical Physiology, mentoring graduate, undergraduate, and postdoctoral students and teaching courses at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- A Ph.D. in biomedical sciences including pharmacology, physiology, neuroscience, pathology, synthetic biology, or other related fields.
- Translational research experience relevant to neurodegenerative diseases.
- Demonstrated research productivity in translational research.
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels, particularly biomedical physiology and translational pharmacology.
- Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and expertise in biotherapeutic preclinical evaluation.
- Excellent ability to integrate engineering methods with biological or biomedical applications.
