The Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC) works in underserved high schools throughout Georgia to increase the number of low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students who attend and complete higher education. We help students find their way to college by placing well-trained, recent college graduates in high schools to work one-on-one with students as they navigate the complex college admissions process, including researching college options, completing applications, and applying for financial aid.

- Work with high school seniors, providing them with information on the college admissions process, financing college, registering for and taking ACT/SAT exams, and completing college applications (40%)
- Assist students with finding scholarship resources (20%)
- Complete all GCAC reports and projects as assigned. Track, using the College Advising Corps Student GRACE web-based system, all student interactions (15%)
- Work with the site liaison at the assigned high school, with the understanding that your official supervisor is the Program Director of the Georgia College Advising Corps (10%)
- Host college fairs and information sessions regarding college admission and financial aid (5%)
- Conduct outreach to high school juniors, sophomores and freshmen to build interest and enthusiasm toward college. When possible, participate in extracurricular activities in the school/community in an effort to build relationships with students and parents (5%)
The Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC) seeks service-minded recent graduates to lead low income, first-generation, and underrepresented students to college. We look for individuals who offer a variety of professional and academic experiences who are friendly, self-motivated, and passionate about our mission. College advisers work alongside counseling staff in underserved public high schools throughout the state of Georgia. They assist students with navigating the college admissions process.
This includes helping each student identify potential colleges, complete college applications, identify financial aid and scholarship opportunities and complete forms and applications, prepare and register for college entrance examinations, and make informed postsecondary plans. GCAC college advisers are members of the College Advising Corps.
