About The College/Unit/Department

The University of Georgia is establishing a new independent School of Medicine in Athens, building on the AU/UGA Medical Partnership. The School of Medicine is located on UGA’s Health Sciences Campus in Athens, home to UGA’s College of Public Health and the current AU/UGA Medical Partnership. Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications MD, DO, PhD, EdD

Position Summary The Assistant Dean for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) ensures that the UGA School of Medicine meets its educational goals for medical student programs while advancing excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include monitoring strategic plan goals and accreditation standards, identifying areas for improvement, and providing data-informed recommendations. The Assistant Dean reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and manages CQI activities, including tracking key metrics and supporting the LCME process.

Collaboration with the Assistant Dean for Assessment and Evaluation ensures integration of assessment data into CQI efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Chair the SOM CQI Committee to engage the broader community in quality improvement.
  • Develop and maintain project management systems to track CQI activities, improvement plans, and strategic plan progress.
  • Develop and oversee the CQI dashboard to monitor trends, goals, outcomes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Align accreditation requirements, CQI processes, and the School’s Strategic Plan with administrators, faculty, staff, and committees.
  • Lead data collection, analysis, and synthesis of accreditation-related and quality-related data for reports and leadership decisions.
  • Contribute to policies, procedures, and documentation for LCME accreditation and readiness.
  • Support the Faculty Accreditation Lead with CQI data for LCME self-studies, progress reports, and submissions.
