Overall Purpose
The teacher supports the instructional process by delivering lesson plans and instruction, supervising students, collaborating with colleagues, and responding to inquiries from parents/guardians.
- Adapt classroom work to meet individualized learning plans.
- Administer developmental testing and assess student competency.
- Advise parents/guardians on progress and goals.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborate with instructional staff, school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
- Demonstrate classroom and subject‑specific instruction methods.
- Direct and coordinate support staff and volunteers.
- Instruct students to improve academic success.
- Manage student behavior to create a safe, optimal learning environment.
- Monitor students in all educational environments.
- Participate in meetings (Professional Learning Communities, etc.).
- Prepare written materials documenting student progress (grades, attendance, etc.).
- Report suspected child or substance abuse.
- Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, and industry organizations.
- Respond to emergency situations (behavior problems, health emergencies, security threats).
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Skill‑based: assessment instruments, office equipment, record keeping, safety practices, first aid, data analysis, curriculum techniques.
- Knowledge‑based: algebra/geometry, technical reading, document composition, group facilitation, curriculum, classroom media and tech, behavioral management, community resources.
- Ability‑based: scheduling, data handling, problem solving, teamwork, confidentiality, flexibility, communication, time management, extended hours.
- Valid teaching certificate in the assigned teaching field.
Occasional lifting, carrying, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and fine finger dexterity. General job requires 20% sitting, 40% walking, and 40% standing.
Continuing Education/TrainingMaintain all licenses and certifications.
