The Communications Coordinator/ Undergraduate Program Administrator will support the department’s communication efforts, provide administrative support to the undergraduate program, and assist in departmental programming. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing marketing, communications and fundraising materials; producing social media content; maintaining social media accounts; updating the departmental website; entering the teaching schedule for each semester; managing departmental records, spreadsheets and databases related to the undergraduate program;
maintaining a working knowledge of UGA’s campus resources and relevant policies and procedures. The role requires working with the department head, the associate head and undergraduate coordinators to manage multiple priorities and projects, demonstrating creativity, flexibility, self‑motivation, and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage multiple competing projects in an organized, efficient manner by prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to work with diverse groups in an academic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Familiarity with data analysis and graphic design.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Drupal, and various social media platforms.

Duties/Responsibilities- Departmental Communications Coordination (40%)
- Help maintain accurate and current information on the Geography Department website.
- Disseminate information on talks, seminars, colloquia, or other events of interest to undergraduate students.
- Generate and edit content and coordinate all logistics for communications including newsletters, mailers, website updates, seminar flyers, social media, external correspondence, and physical/digital displays.
- Undergraduate Program Administration (30%)
- Enter teaching schedules for fall, spring, Maymester and summer semesters using Banner.
- Manage departmental records, spreadsheets and databases related to the undergraduate program.
- Coordinate classroom assignments.
- Clear students to register for courses based on pre‑established criteria.
- Process section change forms and transfer credit summaries.
- Monitor student evaluation process at semester end per departmental guidelines.
- Support undergraduate award process and departmental graduation events.
