Student Services Professional II – VPI-Registrar's Office
Location: Athens Area
Salary: $48,000+, Commensurate with experience. Full-time, benefits eligible.
Position SummaryThe Student Services Professional II serves as the primary resource for students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and the general public on all issues related to registration and student records. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of UGA student information systems, policies, and practices, and focuses on providing expert service and proactive solutions that support student academic success.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
* and* two years of professional experience.
- Triage and answer questions from students, parents, faculty, staff, and alumni in person, via email, and phone.
- Assist students with registration, academic record, late adds, withdrawals, and related issues such as holds and My Programs.
- Act as liaison to other offices (EITS helpdesk, Student Financial Aid, Global Engagement, Equal Opportunity, Student Conduct, Academic Honesty).
- Assist and train student workers.
- Process verifications, degree checks, loan deferments, and letters of good standing in Banner.
- Troubleshoot National Student Clearinghouse problems and process related queues.
- Document Dean’s certifications and other audit documents.
- Assess and resolve Banner/Athena errors, consult UGA policies, and recommend website updates.
- Provide other duties as assigned.
- Expert customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a fast‑paced service environment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Thorough knowledge of UGA academic policies and procedures.
- Ability to deescalate tense situations.
- Ability to establish strong professional relationships with the campus community.
- Banner system knowledge.
- Sit at a desk and work on a computer for long periods.
- Stay on the phone for continuous calls.
- Escort visitors.
- Travel on campus for meetings.
