Position SummaryThe 4‑H County Extension Educator position is an exempt professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for delivery of the 4‑H program within the assigned county. A high level of independent judgment is used to effectively carry out the essential duties. The incumbent manages the delivery of 4‑H education and Extension program administration, developing techniques and procedures as appropriate and works cooperatively with all Extension faculty and staff, reporting to the County Extension Coordinator and the District Extension Director.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies- Proficient in typing, filing, and computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and Quick Books.
- Work combining office and field duties.
- Ability to travel with the 4‑H youth program.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Physical activity to conduct programs (handling animals, demonstration materials, and audio‑video equipment).
- Standing and/or sitting for varied lengths of time; withstand seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
- Travel to 4‑H events and competitions within the state and possibly nationally.
- Occasional extended hours, including nights and weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities- Teach 4‑H educational learning programs in the classroom.
- Direct 4‑Hers in preparation for 4‑H competitive events including project achievement and judging teams.
- Conduct school club meetings and deliver curriculum that meets Georgia Professional Standards.
- Incorporate program evaluation results and feedback into future program planning.
- Transport or arrange transportation for 4‑Hers to district and state events; provide leadership while attending.
- Publicize programs and workshops offered locally or in nearby counties.
- Show high standards of professionalism in appearance and work habits.
- Maintain office inventory of supplies and materials needed to support the 4‑H program.
- Participate in staff conferences and share ideas with coworkers, district staff, and specialists to promote teamwork.
- Utilize current research data and information on emerging issues in program development and teaching as mandated by GA 4‑H.
- Identify, recruit, train, and supervise 4‑H volunteers; assist them in completing the 4‑H Chaperone Training.
- When multiple programs require volunteer leadership (e.g., Archery, Horse, BB, Livestock Show), manage programs with assistance from the 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.
- Make reports to clientele, staff, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, and public officials via electronic mass media, personal contacts, or group meetings; submit accurate GA counts, enrollment, and district reports.
- Support all duties of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Equal Opportunity plan.
- Assist staff with day‑to‑day operations of the county office (answering phone, processing mail, distributing publications, greeting visitors, filing documents, etc.).
- Attend required 4‑H events as assigned by the 4‑H Agent, County Coordinator, or District Personnel.
