Position: Fayette County 4-H Program Assistant (PT)

Employment Type:

Part‑time (FTE 0.475). Salary: $18,110, commensurate with experience. Open until filled.

Position Summary: This role conducts 5th‑8th grade and 9th‑12th grade 4‑H educational program in‑classroom meetings, a monthly senior 4‑H meeting, and assists 4‑H participants with project achievement. It also coordinates weekend events, community service projects, and outdoor and indoor activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in‑school club meetings and deliver prepared curriculum that meets state Georgia Professional Standards guidelines.
  • Plan and coordinate programs with staff members, including lesson plans, project planning, and event details.
  • Assist 4‑H participants in preparation for competitive events and judge teams.
  • Transport and arrange transportation for 4‑H participants to district and state‑level events, providing youth leadership while attending.
  • Incorporate program evaluations and feedback into future programs.
  • Develop school break activities for all youth ages.
  • Use local mass media, county website, and internet media to publicize 4‑H events and increase outreach.
  • Submit accurate reports on time to Georgia Counts, 4‑H Enrollment, and district/state 4‑H offices.
  • Recruit, train, involve, recognize volunteers, and assist with volunteer training.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in typing, filing, Windows, Microsoft Office, social media, and smartphone usage.
  • Strong organizational skills and knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Critical‑thinking skills, initiative, mastery of content, time‑management, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
  • Pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles, and conduct outdoor garden work.
  • Travel to Extension events, including transporting youth in county vehicles such as a 10‑passenger van or minibus.
  • Stand or sit at a desk or in a classroom for extended periods.
  • Drive, walk, run, bend, stoop, use stairs and uneven ground.
