SummaryThe County Extension Educator (Extension Educator I) is an exempt professional staff role with UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for managing the many resources offered by a county office. The role coordinates and distributes time for the 4‑H and FACS county programs and includes independent judgment to effectively carry out the essential duties of the job.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with various populations.
- Knowledge of Cooperative Extension 4‑H program activities.
- Teach 4‑H educational learning programs in the classroom.
- Direct 4‑H’ers in preparation for competitive events and judge teams.
- Arrange transportation of 4‑H’ers to district and state events and provide leadership during these events.
- Use program evaluations and feedback to improve future programs and techniques.
- Publicize programs and workshops to local county and nearby counties.
- Maintain office inventory of supplies and materials for 4‑H program.
- Participate in staff conferences and share ideas to promote teamwork.
- Utilize current research data and information on emerging issues for program development and teaching.
- Conduct in‑school club meetings and deliver curriculum that meets Georgia Professional Standards.
- Recruit, train, and supervise 4‑H volunteers.
- Assist volunteers with successful completion of 4‑H Chaperone Training.
- Manage volunteer‑led programs such as archery, horse club, BB, livestock show teams.
- Make reports to clientele, staff, Boards, public officials through electronic media and meetings.
- Submit accurate reports in GA Counts, 4‑H enrollment, and District office.
- Conduct all duties in accordance with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Equal Opportunity plan.
- Assist staff with day‑to‑day operations of the county office.
- Attend 4‑H events as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by Lead 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.
- Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, handling animals, supplies, demonstration materials, and equipment.
- Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time.
- Withstand seasonal weather conditions for outside activities.
- Driving as needed to perform job duties.
