Position Summary
Assistant Professor (row crop integrated pest management, emphasis on cotton) – tenure‑track (9‑month). Position is budgeted 65% research, 30% Extension, 5% service. Candidate will develop a nationally recognized research and extension program, secure external funding, publish high‑impact research, mentor students, participate in departmental and university service, and collaborate across multistate and international partners. Anticipated start date:
August 3, 2026.
- Ph.D. in Entomology or a related life science discipline.
- One to two years of post‑doctoral experience.
- Strong record of scholarly achievement and excellent communication skills.
- Expertise in agroecology and IPM theory and practice, including invasive species management, resistance management, applied toxicology, transgenic and molecular approaches, population genetics, landscape ecology, or precision agriculture.
- Develop a nationally recognized research and extension program supported by competitive external funding.
- Publish high‑impact research and effectively disseminate findings to row‑crop producers and stakeholders via traditional and digital media.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Engage in departmental and university service, professional activities, and outreach.
- Collaborate with the UGA Cotton Team and other multistate and international partners.
The position requires field work, laboratory work, and occasional travel. Trust responsibilities: no driving, no direct interaction with minors, but access to chemicals and security credentials is required. A credit check and background investigation are required for employment.
