Position SummaryThe University of Georgia Libraries seeks a forward‑looking and collaborative individual for the newly developed position of Collection Strategies Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Collections, the coordinator will manage a Collections Strategy team and lead strategic development and stewardship of UGA Libraries’ research collections and open scholarship.
Minimum QualificationsAn ALA‑accredited Master’s in Library and Information Science or a relevant terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Understanding of major principles and issues in research library collection development and management
- Familiarity with Integrated Library Management Systems, such as ExLibris Alma
- Ability to effectively supervise, mentor, and support professional growth among library staff and faculty
- Familiarity with data/metadata formats and standards used in libraries, such as COUNTER or MARC
- Familiarity with APIs for scholarly resources, scripting and/or query languages such as SQL
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Power BI
- Familiarity with assessment data in higher education, such as IPEDS, and resources for institutional research
- Ability to navigate issues relating to copyright, fair use, and rights management
- Understanding of trends in open access to scholarly materials and publishing services
- Knowledge of collaborative and consortial models for collection building
- Excellent project management skills
- Design and implement a sustainable framework for evidence‑based collections analysis to support strategic decision‑making and collection development policies.
- Provide direction, mentorship, and evaluation for a team of library faculty and staff engaged in collection development.
- Guide the gathering of collection data for ongoing assessment and analysis using catalog holdings, circulation, acquisitions, and e‑resource usage data.
- Produce reports evaluating library resources for collection assessment, addition, renewal, cancellation decisions, budgeting, and policy formulation.
- Contribute to the management of extensive physical collections by designing and executing data‑informed initiatives to de‑duplicate, relocate, and strategically align holdings with user needs.
- Monitor publishing, open access, and transformative agreement trends, advocating for sustainable scholarly content acquisition models.
- Coordinate and manage collection development in discipline‑specific areas, communicating with publishers and vendors, performing content selection and renewal, and monitoring approval plans and user‑driven acquisition programs.
- Participate in working groups and project teams to advance collection assessment efforts related to review, management, and development goals and strategic priorities.
Advertised Salary: $60,000 - $90,000 commensurate with experience.
