Position Summary

The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia is expanding its teaching faculty to meet the needs of our growing educational programs. We seek an energetic and innovative educator to teach upper‑level undergraduate students in our new Biomedical Physiology program. These highly motivated students often pursue admission to graduate training programs, particularly in human healthcare.

The selected applicant will teach up to three 3‑credit hour courses per academic term, participate in the development of new course materials, and supervise teaching assistants. Additional opportunities may include involvement in undergraduate program administration and contributions to the teaching missions of the graduate and veterinary medicine programs. The position requires frequent interaction with students and other CVM faculty and staff, and decisions made by the incumbent can significantly impact student learning and program quality.

A high level of autonomy is expected.

Responsibilities

Teach up to three 3‑credit hour courses per academic term, develop and revise course materials, and supervise teaching assistants. Participate in program administration and contribute to graduate and veterinary medicine teaching missions. Engage with students and faculty to enhance learning outcomes.

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum one year of experience teaching physiology at the undergraduate, graduate, or professional school level.
  • For candidates without a terminal degree required for the rank of Lecturer, exceptional accomplishments and pre‑hire approval for a terminal‑degree exception are required.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • Evidence of teaching excellence using active learning methods in both small and large group settings is highly desirable.
  • Preference to candidates who can teach multiple areas of physiology and in physiology teaching laboratories; teaching pathophysiology or pharmacology is also desirable.
