Position Summary

This position is based in the College of Pharmacy and reports to the Senior Director of Development. The assistant director is responsible for coordinating, growing, and ensuring the success of the college’s annual giving and engagement programs. The role builds meaningful relationships between alumni, donors, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the college to foster philanthropic support, creating a culture of philanthropy through engagement and establishing a pipeline of donors for today and the future.

The role manages a portfolio focused on leadership annual giving ($1,500–$50,000) and works to meet or exceed metrics set by the Senior Director of Development.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Meet and exceed pre-set metrics established by the Senior Director of Development and Division of Development & Alumni Relations, such as meetings with prospective donors, solicitations (annual giving), gifts closed, and overall dollars raised.
  • Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving prospects and donors to strengthen relationships, increase giving, and identify annual, major, and planned giving prospects.
  • Attend and coordinate college events (e.g., White Coat Ceremony, Pinning Ceremony, Commencement, Homecoming) and alumni engagement events.
  • Prepare timely, accurate, and persuasive proposals, presentations, and fundraising materials for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects.
  • Serve as liaison to annual giving, support campaigns, and communications, increasing participation and philanthropic support.
  • Build and manage an alumni engagement strategy and portfolio of alumni and volunteer constituents.
  • Manage the College of Pharmacy Alumni Board, coordinate board meetings, communications, and utilize GAIL to document all constituent activity and event participation.
  • Plan and execute alumni engagement events, coordinate alumni visits to campus, and participate in quarterly prospect management and strategy meetings.
  • Develop and support alumni campus visit experiences that connect alumni with faculty, students, and leadership.
  • Travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips in and out of state and weekend work.
  • Perform telephone and/or correspondence preparation and follow‑up.
  • Manage a pre‑allocated travel budget and plan trips strategically.
  • Work collaboratively with academic departments, programs, students, and campus partners to support alumni engagement opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in alumni relations and soliciting gifts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Problem‑solving and creative solution generation to advance college efforts.
  • Advanced computer literacy and skill in preparing and disseminating communication materials.
  • Ability to interface with alumni and donors by phone, virtual, and in person, as well as through written communication.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for correspondence, event materials, and persuasive presentations.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Confidence to maintain confidentiality and work well with others.
  • Ability to set priorities and perform under pressure in a fast‑paced team environment.
  • High attention to detail and project management abilities for multi‑phase projects.
Physical Demands

  • Use of electronic mail, telephone, face‑to‑face discussions, and paper correspondence.
