Position Overview
Academic Advisor II – Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, University of Georgia (UGA). Full-time, FTE 1.00, exempt (FLSA). Responsibilities include academic advising, student support, program support and coordination of academic services for undergraduate and graduate students.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of university rules, policies, and academic regulations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in advising or similar student services role.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated management of confidential information.
- Meet with students to recommend courses, complete advising forms, answer questions, and direct students to campus resources.
- Maintain accurate student records and respond in a timely manner to student inquiries.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, workshops, and retreats.
- Provide academic support throughout the summer for orientation programs.
- Design and implement academic programs that benefit students.
- Assist in training new advisors and may serve on hiring committees.
- Collaborate with other offices, colleges, and campus organizations to support students.
- Administrative and project work supporting multiple major programs.
- Appreciation for the value of a liberal arts and sciences education.
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to inclusive environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students.
- Good judgment, sound reasoning, and effective decision making.
- Skill to maintain calm demeanor in stressful situations.

Prolonged periods at a computer and regular walking/standing while interacting with students and staff.
