Position Summary
The 4-H County Extension Educator is an exempt professional staff role within UGA Cooperative Extension responsible for delivering the 4-H program within the assigned county. The incumbent manages both 4-H education delivery and Extension program administration, working cooperatively with Extension faculty and staff and reporting to the County Extension Coordinator and District Extension Director.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Proficient in typing, filing, and computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, and Quick Books.
- Ability to work and travel with the 4-H Youth program.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Teach 4-H educational learning programs in the classroom.
- Direct 4-H’ers in preparation for competitive events, including project achievement and team judging.
- Conduct school club meetings and deliver curriculum that meets Georgia Professional Standards guidelines.
- Arrange transportation for 4-H’ers to district and state events and provide on-site leadership.
- Publicize programs and workshops offered locally and in neighboring counties.
- Maintain office inventory and support the 4-H program.
- Participate in staff conferences and collaborate with co-workers, district staff, and specialists.
- Utilize current research data and emerging issues for program development and teaching.
- Identify, recruit, train, and supervise 4-H volunteers; assist with Chaperone Training.
- Prepare and submit accurate reports to stakeholders, including enrollment and counts.
- Make use of electronic mass media, county website, and group meetings for communication.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of the county office (answering phone, processing mail, etc.).
- Attend required 4-H events as assigned.
- Some physical activity to conduct programs (e.g., handling animals, demonstration materials).
- Standing/sitting for varied periods; withstand seasonal weather conditions.
- Travel to 4-H events and competitions statewide and possibly nationally.
- Occasionally work extended hours, including nights and weekends.
- Driving as needed for job responsibilities.
