Teacher Assistant – Middle Grades

The GLOBE Academy is a K-8 charter school on two campuses that opened in 2013 and fosters Global Learning Opportunities through Balanced Education, serving students from all over DeKalb County, GA. With a focus on dual-language immersion, an experiential-learning model and a constructivist approach, GLOBE inspires students to be high-performing lifelong learners equipped to make a positive impact in the world.

The Teacher Assistant (TA) should have a solid understanding of supporting and assisting the lead teacher in teaching small to large groups of students within an experiential learning model. GLOBO language teachers and teachers’ assistants encourage the use of 100% target language between students. Responsibilities

• Classroom support, including, but not limited to, working with individual students and small groups.
• Creation of classroom support materials.
• Afternoon and morning duties, as assigned.
• Provides classroom coverage for teachers as needed.
• Office and administrative support as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Self-starter – someone who is organized and knows how to take initiative but is also comfortable taking direction from others
• Ability to function as a collaborative member of the grade level team.
• A cover letter and resume indicating: your prior experience, your philosophy of teaching and learning, description of what teaching looks like in practice in your classroom.
• Names and contact information for at least 3 recent references.
• Other documentation that may be relevant to the position.

The GLOBE Academy offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
