Pastor Of Discipleship
Shepherd Staff is honored to be partnering with Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens, GA, as they search for a Pastor of Discipleship. Beech Haven is a healthy, multi-generational Southern Baptist church with a strong history of faithful ministry and a renewed sense of vision and momentum under the leadership of Senior Pastor Rob Tims.
This newly created role represents a strategic investment in the long-term health, discipleship depth, and leadership strength of the church. The Pastor of Discipleship will serve as a key leadership partner to the Senior Pastor—helping translate vision into execution, develop staff and lay leaders, and strengthen discipleship pathways across the church.
This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned pastor-leader who loves building healthy systems, developing leaders, and cultivating gospel-centered discipleship in a growing church.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate seasoned pastoral leadership with the maturity to serve as a trusted second-chair leader
- Lead and multiply leaders through coaching, resourcing, and accountability
- Build and strengthen discipleship pathways, with particular emphasis on adult life groups
- Partner closely with the Senior Pastor to provide clarity, alignment, and momentum across ministries
- Mobilize people and leaders with vision and energy without creating dependency
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for adult discipleship and life groups
- Equip, coach, and resource life group and discipleship leaders
- Revitalize and strengthen men's discipleship pathways
- Supervise and develop Next Generation ministry leaders (kids, students, college)
- Preach and teach as needed in alignment with the Senior Pastor
- Serve as a collaborative team member supporting the broader ministry of the church
