Position Summary

The Director of Faculty and Leadership Development in Faculty Affairs supports the professional development of faculty and administrators while advancing institution‑wide initiatives and policies. The role includes managing personnel and budgets within the Faculty and Leadership Development area, researching, designing, delivering, and assessing development programs for faculty and academic leaders, and collaborating with multiple campus units such as the Graduate School and the Center for Teaching and Learning.

The Director also serves as a primary faculty support resource and develops communications for internal and external audiences via email, web, and social media channels.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Research, design, manage, deliver, and assess a range of programs for faculty and academic leaders, including faculty success planning, mentoring, academic leadership development, productivity enhancement, and faculty engagement.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and periodically assess faculty and leadership development needs across the institution.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administrators on program delivery and interact with colleagues in units such as the Graduate School, Center for Teaching and Learning, Human Resources, Office of Academic and Community Engagement, and Office of Research.
  • Develop communications for internal and external audiences via emails, website, and social media.
  • Manage personnel and budgets for the Faculty and Leadership Development area.
  • Serve as a primary faculty support resource, providing guidance on challenges faced by faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Terminal or master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Five- or more‑year experience in higher education.
  • Three or more years of experience providing educational development to faculty and academic leaders.
  • Strong capability in managing personnel and budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and administrators.
Additional Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to research, design, and lead workshops and cohort programs, utilizing active learning techniques.
  • Evidence of effectiveness in educational program delivery and needs assessment.
  • Experience in leading a variety of stakeholders to establish and maintain value‑adding programs.
  • Proficiency in workshop facilitation and instructional design for in‑person and virtual settings.
Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
  • Commitment to ongoing learning in evidence‑based approaches to learning and professional development.
  • Background in educational development within offices of faculty affairs, centers for teaching and learning, human resources, or academic units.
  • Strong interest and documented success in training, coaching, or mentoring, preferably with certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills and project management experience, prioritizing multiple projects to meet deadlines and budgets.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and experience designing communications for internal and external audiences via websites, social media, and email.
