Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, the Student Experience and Programs Coordinator will manage, administer, and provide operational and administrative coordination for established student programs and initiatives across the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, including the Vinson Institute Fellows Program, PROPEL Rural Scholars Program, Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP), and new student orientation, engagement, professional development, and recruitment efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other departments on day‑to‑day programmatic, operational, and administrative issues; facilitate seminars, meetings, special projects, and problem resolution.
  • Serve as the point of contact for student program coordination, communications, scheduling, and operational support activities.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and support established CVIOG student programs.
  • Supervise one to two Graduate Assistants.
  • Co‑lead the PROPEL Rural Scholars Program.
  • Lead the Vinson Institute Fellows Program.
  • Co‑lead the Georgia Legislative Internship Program (GLIP) with UGA’s GLIP Coordinator.
  • Cultivate relationships with campus partners to improve student recruitment strategies and talent pool.
  • Provide recommendations and direction for designing and publishing promotional materials, educational materials, training resources, and newsletters for the Institute’s student programs and initiatives.
  • Support recognition and engagement activities for student employees and student mentors.
  • Manage and coordinate promotional and communication efforts in partnership with the Office of Communications to support student engagement initiatives and program visibility.
  • Collaborate with the HR Team on broader employee engagement strategies and initiatives, when requested.
  • Coordinate schedules, timelines, logistics, and operational activities for student programs and related events.
  • Manage the coordination, administration, and execution of student programs and all student‑related events.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage student programs and events to enrich the student experience at the Institute.
  • Provide recommendations and direction for the design and facilitation of CVIOG New Student Orientation each semester.
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for the implementation, coordination, communication, and promotion of the Institute’s student programs.
  • Provide recommendations and directions to improve each of the Institute’s student programs.
  • Manage and coordinate activities and experiential learning opportunities that support students’ professional development.
  • Coordinate and implement the activities of students, faculty, and staff engaged in implementation and administration of program goals.
  • Evaluate and elevate each of the Institute’s student programs/initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
  • Support alumni engagement, communication and related program activities to keep graduate students informed and inspired.
  • Input program and participant data in the Quantitative Performance Measures, GAIL, and project portfolio management system.
  • Collect and analyze data; prepare scheduled and special reports; maintain program records and statistical information.
  • Perform administrative, operational, and reporting functions, including developing and editing program correspondence, reports, communications, and related resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Vehicle operation may be required; driving within the state of Georgia is a job responsibility.
Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, or a related field; career services, student affairs, and/or mentorship program experience.
