Position SummaryAdvise students and parents regarding federal, state and institutional student financial aid, and assist with related student financial aid application processes. Determine eligibility for and revise student financial aid awards according to established guidelines and policies. Remain current regarding federal, state and institutional student financial aid regulations, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Prior experience working in student financial aid preferred.
- Advise accurately and efficiently students and parents who call, visit, or e-mail the office regarding financial aid information and processes throughout the lifecycle of financial aid application through receipt of aid funds and after.
- Provide assistance to students, families, and colleagues in completing financial aid application processes.
- Maintain a working knowledge of relevant student information and financial aid processing systems; maintain privacy and confidentiality of student and family data and information; maintain security of student records and related information.
- Collaborate with other employees on office committees regarding policy, procedures, and training opportunities; participate in approved professional development activities in coordination with supervisor; assist with presentations and financial aid outreach events, delivering information and responding to questions accurately, timely, and professionally; assist in training new employees (permanent and temporary, including interns and graduate assistants), as needed.
- Accurately award and revise student financial aid in accordance with federal, state and university policies and procedures; process and work numerous and complex reports requiring the ability to interpret the necessary action required and complete them in a timely manner; remain current regarding federal, state and university regulations; monitor BANNER and the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) for changes to students’ federal aid eligibility and revise or cancel awards;
reconcile award discrepancies with Student Accounts and work with UGA departments as needed; adhere to all statutory, regulatory, and policy guidance. - Assist with office reception duties, as needed; perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in other areas of the office, as needed.

- Sitting for extended periods of time doing computer work.
- Work some evenings and weekends.
- Travel to outreach events off campus and driving required.
