Position Summary

The County Extension Program Assistant will assist county extension agents with day‑to‑day program conduct, answering phone calls and helping 4‑H and agricultural assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information.
  • Work with limited supervision.
Physical Demands
  • Conduct programs (pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles).
  • Travel to events.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in facilitating the county 4‑H Program.
  • Assist 4‑H’ers in preparation for 4‑H competitive events including project achievement and judging teams.
  • Transport or arrange for transportation of 4‑H’ers to various district and state level events and, if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events.
  • Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs.
  • Help implement educational Ag programs.
  • Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct day‑to‑day operations.
  • Assist clientele with access to Extension resources and services including: printed publications, online content, other educational materials and sample submission for all diagnostic services (e.g. soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing).
  • Assist with other duties as needed.
