The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia seeks to fill two Postdoctoral Teaching and Research Associate positions beginning in August 2026. Each position is funded by the NSF Geometry and Topology Research and Training Group (RTG) and is anticipated to be of two years duration, with summer support and the possibility of renewal for a third year. The RTG focuses on algebraic geometry, geometric topology, and symplectic geometry.
Due to the requirements of the grant, the position is only open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Teaching duties involve two courses per year. Postdocs are expected to pursue an original research program and participate in the department’s research life. Applicants should demonstrate promise of excellence in research closely related to the focus of the RTG, and potential for high quality teaching in university mathematics classes.
- Research:
Pursue an original research program in areas related to the RTG focus of algebraic geometry, geometric topology, or symplectic geometry. - Teaching:
Teach two courses per year (graduate level mathematics courses). - Participate in the research life of the Department through seminars, department meetings, and collaboration.
- Ph.D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in Mathematics or a related field.
- Demonstrated potential for significant research in the RTG focus areas.
- Evidence of high quality teaching potential in university mathematics classes.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
