Minimum Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent

Position Summary:

This incumbent is based in Houston County and is responsible for paraprofessional work with County Extension Agents in a Food and Nutrition Education program for limited-resource clients (Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program). Plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts nutrition and food safety classes for limited resource clients. Prepares and conducts food demonstrations for group classes. This employee will exhibit qualities of independent judgment.

Work is performed under general supervision.

Competencies:

  • Ability to learn basic food preparation skills.
  • Strong communication skills and experience interacting with diverse groups of people.
  • Relate effectively to young people and adults.
  • Lead groups effectively including ability to speak clearly and with sufficient volume to be heard without amplification.
  • Skilled in working with clients with limited resources.
Physical Demands:

  • Stand for long periods to effectively present program to attendees.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Speak effectively to audiences without amplification.
  • Effectively use kitchen tools including knives, spoons, blenders, choppers, etc.
  • Driving to perform job related duties.
