Position SummaryThe Georgia College Advising Corps (GCAC) recruits service‑minded recent graduates to support low‑income, first‑generation, and under‑represented students in accessing higher education. GCAC college advisers serve in public high schools across Georgia, working alongside counseling staff to guide students through the college admissions process, identify best‑fit colleges, complete applications, explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities, prepare for entrance exams, and develop informed postsecondary plans.
Duties & Responsibilities- Work with high school seniors – provide information on the college admissions process, financing, ACT/SAT registration, and application completion. (45% of time)
- Assist students with finding scholarship resources. (20% of time)
- Complete GCAC reports and data tracking using the College Advising Corps Student GRACE system and complete GCAC projects. (15% of time)
- Work with the site liaison at the assigned high school under program direction. (10% of time)
- Host college fairs and information sessions – provide programming regarding college admission and financial aid. (5% of time)
- Conduct outreach to younger students – at the end of the spring term, outreach to rising seniors to build interest and prepare them for actionable steps. (5% of time)

- Experience working with a wide variety of student populations and school staff.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively, meet deadlines, plan events, and keep track of data and records.
- Strong communication skills: persuasive speaking, professional writing, and creating multimedia texts such as flyers, presentations, and websites.
- Capable of surmounting challenges and solving problems creatively, ethically, and diplomatically in the admissions process.
