Position Summary
The Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its teaching faculty to accommodate growing educational programs. We seek an energetic and innovative educator to teach upper‑level undergraduate students in our new Biomedical Physiology program. The teacher will cover up to three 3‑credit‑hour courses per academic term, help develop new course materials, and supervise teaching assistants.
Opportunities exist to participate in undergraduate program administration and contribute to graduate and veterinary medicine teaching missions.
- Doctoral degree (PhD, DVM, MD/DO, DDS/DMD, PharmD, OD, or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Minimum of one year of undergraduate, graduate, or professional level physiology teaching experience.
- Individuals without a terminal degree must document exceptional accomplishments in a discipline area related to the position’s responsibilities and be approved for a terminal‑degree exception before hire.
- Evidence of teaching excellence using active learning methods in both small and large group settings.
- Preference for candidates who can teach multiple areas of physiology and deliver teaching in physiology laboratories; knowledge of pathophysiology or pharmacology is desirable.
- For those for whom a master’s degree is the minimum requirement, preference will be given to candidates holding a doctoral degree appropriate to their field.
Extended periods of standing or sitting, vocal strain from talking, and moderate physical activity such as walking, reaching, and occasional lifting of materials.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesTeach up to three 3‑credit‑hour courses per academic term; develop new course materials; supervise teaching assistants; and participate in undergraduate program administration and help advance graduate and veterinary medicine teaching missions.
