Position Summary
The Department of Journalism and the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication invite applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track faculty position in journalism to begin in August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. courses; conduct scholarship; mentor graduate students; and participate in service. The effort allocation is 50 % teaching, 45 % research, and 5 % service.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. courses within the journalism curriculum.
- Develop and publish peer‑reviewed research in leading scholarly journals.
- Mentor graduate students and engage students from diverse backgrounds.
- Serve the college, department, and university in service activities.
- A Ph.D. in journalism, mass communication, or a related field with a journalism‑or mass‑communication‑related research stream.
- ABD candidates will also be considered.
- Strong research agenda in journalism, news, or informational media.
- Demonstrated record or potential for publishing peer‑reviewed articles.
- Interest in mentoring graduate students.
- Ability to teach courses in media law, new technology/AI, political communication, media history, multimedia journalism, or media management.
