position summary - youmustholdacurrentfacultypositionattherankofprofessororclinicalprofessorinthecollegeofveterinarymedicineattheuniversityofgeorgiatoapplytothisposition. The associate dean for college operations (adco) reports directly to the dean and oversees the comprehensive management of the college's physical and technical infrastructure, including: facilities, information technology, and safety and compliance policies, designed to support and advance the cvm's tripartite mission of teaching, service, and research. As a senior administrator, the adco serves as a strategic advisor to the dean and other college leaders, bridges the gap between academic/clinical missions and university logistics, and ensures the college is compliant with all university, state, and federal regulations, as well as veterinary accreditation standards.

additional requirements - required education: a terminal degree or the foreign equivalent with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a full professor in an academic department in the cvm.

relevant/preferred education, experience, licensure, and/or certification - experience: significant, progressive leadership in senior administration, preferably within an academic health center, veterinary college, or a highly regulated research and/or clinical environment is required.

preferred knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies - operational acumen: demonstrated background managing complex physical footprints, capital projects, facilities logistics, or large-scale technical operations is required. Compliance expertise: deep familiarity with safety protocols, risk management, and state/federal regulatory compliance (e.g., avma coe, usda, iacuc, or ehs guidelines) is required. Collaborative leadership: exceptional communication and conflict-resolution skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, department chairs, university administrators, and external stakeholders is required.

duties/responsibilities - infrastructure, facilities & capital planning space allocation & management: partner with department chairs and the associate deans to strategically allocate and manage college space, including offices, instructional areas, and specialized research laboratories. Capital & maintenance projects: coordinate directly with the dean and the facilities planning director on major maintenance projects, future capital project development, and long-term facility needs. Research & instructional support: oversee research space logistics, lab setups, faculty move-ins, infrastructure upgrades, and the maintenance of modern classroom and conference room facilities.
