Position Summary
The University of Georgia announces an opening for a tenure track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levelin the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center ( CCRC ;(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) in the area of plant and/or microbialglycoscience. We seek outstanding scientists whose research complements or expands our existing strengths in the CCRC and fosters a team science atmosphere that can benefit from our cutting-edge NMR, Mass Spectrometry, Computational, and Structural Biology infrastructure.
Successful candidates will have access to arobust graduate student training program (partially supported by anNIH training grant in Glycoscience), highly motivated undergraduate trainees, and the opportunity to participate in education at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, and will be expected to buildor maintain a vibrant, extramurally-funded research program that leverages the highly collaborative research environment at the CCRCand UGA . The CCRC is home to the DOE Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates, the NSF
-funded BioF- GREAT Bio Foundry, the Network for Advanced NMR ( NAN ), and the NIH
-funded T32 Glycoscience Training Program. The CCRC also plays a leading role in the DOE-funded Center for Bioenergy Innovation ( CBI ) and is the home ofGLYGEN, GLYCAM, and the leadership for the 5th edition of Essentials of Glycobiology. The above are national resources forthe study of complex carbohydrates from plants, microbes, and animals and the successful candidate will be expected to utilize and expand such resources through collaborative research efforts.
