Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 2 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s or PhD in a STEM discipline
  • Superior editing and proofreading skills
  • 3 years of experience editing scientific/academic writing
  • 5 years of experience working with academic faculty
  • Broad lay knowledge of academic research
  • Demonstrated breadth of academic interests
  • Knowledge of the federal grant landscape
  • Experience writing, developing, editing, administering, or otherwise contributing to grant proposals to NSF and NIH
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, advising, or instructing in an academic or similar setting
  • Public speaking ability
Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Director in the Office for Strategic Research Development, perform professional level duties related to the development of research grant writing ability and knowledge (“grantsmanship”) across the University of Georgia’s research enterprise. This includes working intensively with individual faculty to develop grant proposals and instruct them in grantsmanship. It also includes developing and delivering grantsmanship workshops and other outreach activities.

This position requires experience working closely with academic faculty; knowledge of research grant proposal development; and superior writing, editing, and proofreading ability.
