Career Consultant

The Career Consultant serves as the primary career services liaison to assigned colleges or schools at the University of Georgia. This role acts as a critical link between the Career Center and the college, serving as a resource for students, employers, and faculty on career planning, industry trends, and professional development. Internally, the Career Consultant advocates for the college’s career-related needs and serves as a key referral point for students and stakeholders.

Career Consultants provide comprehensive career coaching and programming support related to career exploration, job search strategies, skill development, experiential learning, graduate school preparation, and employment opportunities for program-specific undergraduate and graduate students. They develop industry connections relevant to students’ career interests and foster mentorship opportunities withUGAalumni. Additionally, they collaborate closely with faculty, academic advisors, and student services staff to integrate career development into the student experience.

This position is structured as a permanent position within the Division of Development & Alumni Relations. We are unable to sponsor a work visa for this position.

8:00am–5:00pm;
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be necessary to meet business needs

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent

• The preferred qualifications for this position include a master’s degree in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, or related field.
• Career services experience is preferred. Specifically, experience providing comprehensive advising and career counseling related to career exploration and job-related skill development.

• Knowledge of career needs, skills, and trends related to students, general career development and job market trends
• Strong Interpersonal Skills, Counseling Skills, Presentation Skills, Program Development Skills
• Ability to develop strong relationships with referring faculty and administrators
• Ability to develop rapport with students
• Ability to serve the career development needs of students with varied experiences and perspectives.
