Position Summary
This is an advanced level position and part of the Facility Inventory Team within the Engineering Department. The role involves assisting in the collection, maintenance, analysis, documentation, and distribution of data related to buildings and other facilities at the University of Georgia. Responsibilities include professional work in CAD, GIS, and data management, as well as the coordination and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
Responsibilities- Update/create building floor plans using AutoCAD and Revit software, schedule and complete site visits, and prepare, review, and approve floor plans in AiM. Convert plans to interactive Adobe PDF and assign room numbers using UGA Room Number Standards. (25%)
- Maintain the virtual plans room: organize, name, convert files to PDF, file all electronic documents, log submittals in Excel, and create a dashboard for accessing building construction documents. Develop a crosswalk between UGA building assets and Record Documents with FMD IT. (20%)
- Coordinate project reviews for OUA and FMD projects: set up and send out Bluebeam documents, collect final comments, submit to project manager, monitor and maintain the Facilities Inventory Ticket Center, and assign tickets using the FI workflow. (20%)
- Assist Engineers with CAD support for design projects, create 3D Revit models, and use laser scanning to develop point clouds for room and building drawings. (15%)
- Create ArcGIS building and utility maps, including campus utility location maps, and link building construction documents to building footprints in ArcGIS. (10%)
- Assist customers with locating and interpreting construction documents, perform scanning, copying, and printing, approve Digital Plansroom access requests, and perform other duties as assigned. (10%)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent.
- Previous experience or familiarity with Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software;
Assetworks AIM is used by FMD. - Advanced level experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and ArcGIS software.
- Ability to write SQL and/or Python code is desirable.
- Ability to read construction drawings and construction closeout documents is desired.
- Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection) is desirable.
- Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling and the principles of digital twins and model management.
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with faculty, staff, team members, and the public.
- Work with computerized information systems for data file maintenance.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
- Read building drawings and relate to building spaces to develop and maintain comprehensive facility data systems.
- Walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb stairs and ladders, sit, and work at a computer for up to 8 hours daily.
