Exxon Mobil’s state‑of‑the‑art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors. What role you will play in our teamWe are planning to hire an experienced Subsea Engineer (Controls) to work out of Exxon Mobil’s Houston Campus in the United States of America. The candidate would be part of Exxon Mobil’s Subsea Systems team in Exxon Mobil Technology and Engineering Company. Subsea Engineers (Controls) provide corporate‑wide technical and advisory support in the areas of subsea controls (including topsides controls equipment), cause and effects, interlocks, and electro/hydraulic distribution.
Responsibilities will include developing and applying design and operating criteria for Exxon Mobil’s diverse, global portfolio of assets, new developments, and industry‑led initiatives.
- Develop, specify, and apply subsea controls design criteria for a wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, i.e. large‑scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, offshore installation activities, and low‑carbon solutions opportunities.
- Involvement in various subsea project support efforts from concept evaluation and selection to commissioning and start‑up.
- Evaluate the strengths and shortcomings inherent in different controls design philosophies.
- Participate in risk assessments, root cause failure analyses, technology evaluations/selections, and offshore installation of subsea hardware.
- Develop and carry out procedures for FAT, EFAT, SIT, and pre‑loadout of subsea hardware and software.
- Participate in subsea industry activities (e.g. OTC, SSTB, industry committees).
- Lead revision to company standards and/or industry practices.
- Support subsea operations issue identification and resolution efforts.
- Interface with people from different disciplines (e.g. marine, risers, pipelines, flow assurance) to align on work scopes and work products.
- Interface with suppliers, contractors, and other third parties to ensure work products are in alignment with Exxon Mobil expectations.
