Systems Engineer, Electrical Engineering
Job Summary
Provide engineering services in support of systems and equipment associated with research efforts within an academic or research unit or laboratory. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs.
Responsibilities- Participate in the design, installation and testing of systems and components.
- Develop engineering project schedules, plans, and specifications for systems and components.
- Conduct analyses of system performance; prescribe corrective action where required.
- Troubleshoot systems; may involve calibration and repair work.
- Prepare drawings, schematic diagrams and other documentation associated with components and systems.
- Provide input to and administer project engineering budgets.
- Interact with vendors regarding procurement and delivery issues.
- Participate in project reviews for conformance to quality standards and compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OtherRequired Qualifications
Valid Driver's license.
Required ExperienceUp to two years of job related experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Professional Engineer (PE).
- Completed at least one upper division (300‑400 level) course in electromagnetics, RF/microwave engineering, or antenna design.
- Experience with laboratory test equipment including:
Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer, Signal Generator, Oscilloscope. - Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or LabVIEW.
- Familiarity with the following software: ADS, HFSS, CST, and/or FEKO.
- Ability to perform research independently.
- Ability to prioritize tasks while working on multiple projects.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Familiarity with Office applications including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Application of engineering principles, processes, and practices; application of regulations, codes and safety practices; utilization of basic and advanced computer applications; communication skills.
