Job Overview
The AutoCAD Drafter will develop isometric piping drawings using AutoCAD or related software, perform data entry duties, and draft revisions to existing documentation. The role requires advanced 2‑D drafting skills, the ability to create custom AutoCAD toolbars and ribbons, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and 3‑D tools as applicable. The position may lead a small project or a phase of a larger project, overseeing manpower and schedule requirements, and providing training and support to junior staff.
Responsibilities- Advance 2‑D drafting skills and deep familiarity with AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of VLISP and VLIDE.
- Create and customize AutoCAD toolbars and ribbons per project requirements.
- Exceptional computer skills including Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
- Read and interpret P&’s, PFD’s, piping layouts, and isometric drawings and specifications.
- Superior organization and communication skills.
- Lead and train junior staff; make independent judgments on complex drafting assignments and communicate effectively with supervisors and project personnel.
- Lead small projects or phases of larger projects, managing manpower, schedule, discipline design requirements, and drafting data; prepare work-share packages; ensure technical quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
- Utilize advanced PC, 2‑D CAD, and 3‑D tools (if applicable) to perform duties; provide training and simple checking as needed; meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Maintain customer service, guide department personnel, and manage confidential information.
- Perform difficult drafting/design and technical support assignments according to established standards and procedures.
- Regularly interface with departmental staff, middle and upper management, and outside customers.
- Willingness to travel or accept field assignments.
- Demonstrate corporate attributes including commitment, customer focus, adaptability, drive for results, integrity, trust, and basic leadership skills.
- Degree in Drafting/CAD or equivalent experience.
- Experience with PCMS is a plus.
- A minimum of 1–6 years of piping experience, including routing and piping layout; prior experience with isometrics is a plus.
- Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
