Description

Associate Building Group Lead at Lockheed Martin Space, Kings Bay, Georgia. This role leads a team of missile mechanics in the Missile Assembly Building (MAB) at the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic (SWFLANT). The Associate Building Group Lead supports the Building Group Lead in daily assignments of represented and salaried employees, ensuring smooth operations of missile production and strict adherence to safety and ordnance compliance.

• Expedite the timely resolution of issues that impede the production process flow.
• Supervise and provide technical direction to missile mechanics who manufacture, inspect, assemble, and test Trident II D5 missile body segments and assemblies.
• Manage multiple job operations, building issues, and last‑minute changes to assignments.
• Review operational requirements and command media.
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action, implementing and tracking to closure in support of operational objectives.
• Monitor and maintain ordnance facility daily.
• Report anomalous conditions to building management, safety, weapons operation center, and governmental facility operations groups.
• Perform monthly area checklists to verify proper building operation and document results.
• Provide shop floor supervision.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience/education.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong safety mindset and familiarity with generic and ordnance safety requirements.
• Willingness to work around ordnance daily.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to obtain an Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives certification.
• Ability to obtain and retain a DOD Secret Clearance (interim prior to start).
• Willingness to work extended hours, weekdays and weekends.
• Experience leading teams.

• Knowledge of the D5 technical program management and FBM manufacturing requirements.
• Experience with missile processing, D5 final assembly, inspections, test and checkout operations.
• Experience with missile processing documentation (SAP, IMPS, MAP).
• Experience ordering parts using the MAS system.
• Knowledge of D5 support equipment (SE) in preventive and corrective maintenance systems.
• Strong performance skills in accuracy and closure.
• Experience working around ordnance.
• Ability to interact with customers and establish trust and credibility.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience at an FBM field processing site (e.g., SWFLANT, SWFPAC, ER).
• Above‑average computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
• Experience with continuous improvement and change management.
• Experience leading a team of hourly represented employees.
• OP5 (NAVSEA Ammunition and Explosives) and operations safety experience.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis activities.

This position requires a government security clearance. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and are required to obtain and retain a Secret clearance (interim clearance before start). An Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives certification is also required.

Installation:
Kings Bay, Georgia. Work is performed onsite. The schedule is a 4×10 day shift with three days off per week. The role requires willingness to work extended hours on weekdays and weekends.
