Field/Service Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Electronics Technician
As a member of the technical operations team, the Rental Technician plays a critical role in maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and deploying environmental monitoring and industrial safety instrumentation at our Houston, TX location.
Primary Responsibilities- Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot environmental and gas detection instruments.
- Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on rental fleet equipment to ensure peak performance and compliance with manufacturer and safety standards.
- Prepare instruments for rental orders, including functional checks, firmware updates, cleanliness and performance verification.
- Assist with field service deployments, customer training, and onsite technical support.
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation for equipment maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to meet customer needs and respond to urgent requests.
- Support internal quality control processes and ensure that all outgoing equipment meets Ajax and In‑Situ quality benchmarks.
- Participate in ongoing training and development for new technologies and instrumentation.
- Uphold company safety standards during all service procedures, both in the shop and on‑site.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, calibration gases, and instrumentation software.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Customer‑focused attitude with a commitment to high service standards.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field preferred.
- Military technical training (e.g., avionics, electrical systems) may substitute for formal education.
- 1+ years of experience in instrumentation, calibration, or technical service preferred.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, construction services, or industrial gas detection instruments is highly desirable.
- Lifting, bending, reaching, squatting, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable using ladders, hand tools, and personal protective equipment.

Salary range: $23–$25 USD per hour. The position is eligible for bonus pay. Compensation may be modified at the company’s sole discretion.
