Position Overview

The Engineering Assistant works closely with the Facilities Engineer for University Housing. The primary purpose of the position is to assist in engineering projects as assigned. This position also assists in crisis management situations and enforces university and departmental policies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in engineering analysis, including reviewing data, performing engineering calculations, and drafting supporting documentation.
  • Conduct research to find solutions to specific engineering challenges within the department. Report findings orally and in written form.
  • Assist in producing reports outlining project progress or recommendations.
  • Develop and assist in presentations for engineering projects.
  • Assist in maintaining documentation of work accomplished.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Accepted into the College of Engineering.
  • In good standing with the University and the Office of Student Conduct.
  • Must be enrolled on at least a half‑time basis during active semesters (minimum six credit hours for undergraduates and professional students, minimum five for graduate students).
  • May not exceed 20 hours of work per week across all student staff positions, except when classes are not in session and prior permission has been obtained.
  • Job requires a valid driver’s license and ability to drive as needed.
  • Position is a temporary, non‑exempt staff role; an employee may be separated at any time without notice or appeal.
Physical Demands

Driving is required to perform job duties. The role involves working on site at University Housing facilities as needed.
