Position Summary

Museum assistants at the Porcelain and Decorative Arts Museum are involved in customer service, facilities management, and museum functions such as engaging with visitors, monitoring the building and collections, and assisting the curator with research and other activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greeting and engaging with visitors at the welcome desk.
  • Monitoring building and collections.
  • Working with museum volunteer docents to create a welcoming and educational environment.
  • Creating education materials for the museum.
  • Researching the collection to create well‑developed files on museum objects.
  • Assisting the curator with other various activities, including cleaning of objects and object handling.
Qualifications

Required:

Good interpersonal skills, dependable, interest in museums and/or art, ability to use sound judgment and reasoning skills, good work ethic, well‑developed research and writing skills.

Other Requirements

Must be available on the specified schedule. Must drive.

Physical Demands

Driving to perform job related tasks.
