Job OverviewBusiness Operations Professional III serves as a strategic business partner to the Institute, providing comprehensive financial management, budgeting, and fiscal strategy. The role applies advanced knowledge of financial accounting and public budgeting within the context of higher education and public service to support sound decision‑making and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Act as an internal consultant on fiscal affairs, financial management, and budget strategy, advising faculty, staff, and leadership.
- Monitor personal services and operating expenditures against budgets, oversee sub‑awards, contracts, and outsourced services.
- Ensure all transactions comply with Institute of Government, University of Georgia, and Board of Regents policies.
- Lead the development and production of complex financial reports, maintain accurate data within Quick Books and related systems, and perform reconciliations.
- Ensure proper administration of agreements, compliance with applicable laws, and accurate reporting.
- Provide supervision, training, mentoring, and evaluation of staff, assigning and prioritizing work.
- Add support for business operations across multiple divisions, aligning financial coverage with organizational priorities.
- Enhance skill sets through continuous professional development, cross‑training, and collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Five (5) years of professional experience in financial accounting or public budgeting.
- Experience with Quick Books, People Soft, Excel, and Word.
- Advanced knowledge of higher education fiscal affairs.
- Experience with state and federal financial policy and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and report on financial data for stakeholders.
- Strong working knowledge of People Soft, Quick Books, Excel, Word.
- Ability to work effectively with others and independently.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret UGA financial reports.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Lift up to 20 pounds.
- Work on a computer for long periods.
- Maneuver between four buildings located on site.
- Driving, security access, P‑Card usage, and financial resource control as required.
