Position Summary
Advise students and parents regarding federal, state, and institutional student financial aid and assist with related financial aid application processes. Determine eligibility and revise student financial aid awards according to established guidelines and policies. Remain current regarding federal, state, and institutional student financial aid regulations, policies, and procedures.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
Preferred QualificationsPrior experience working in student financial aid preferred.

- Advise students and parents accurately and efficiently, who call, visit, or e‑mail regarding financial aid information and processes throughout the lifecycle of the application through receipt of aid funds and after; provide assistance to students, families, and colleagues in completing financial aid application processes; maintain a working knowledge of relevant student information and financial aid processing systems; maintain privacy and confidentiality of student and family data and information;
maintain security of student records and related information (40%) - Collaborate with other employees on office committees regarding policy, procedures, and training opportunities; participate in approved professional development activities; assist with presentations and financial aid outreach events, delivering information and responding to questions accurately, timely, and professionally; assist in training new employees, including interns and graduate assistants (20%)
- Accurately award and revise student financial aid in accordance with federal, state, and university policies; process numerous complex reports that require interpretation and timely completion; remain current on regulations; monitor BANNER and NSLDS for changes to federal aid eligibility and revise or cancel awards; reconcile award discrepancies with Student Accounts and work with UGA departments as needed (35%)
- Assist with office reception duties as needed; perform other duties as assigned, which may include working in other areas of the office (5%)
Driving is required. This position is a Position of Trust. The role involves access to student and financial information but does not include direct interaction with children under 18, nor does it require a credit card or possession of financial resources.
