Deputy Sheriff Level I – Pickens County Sheriff's Office

Under general supervision by the shift supervisor, this position ensures security and protects the facility’s property, completes inmates’ admission process, prevents escapes, controls inmate behavior, and protects inmates from one another. The incumbent must diligently maintain an inmate count, promptly dispense medication, and take inmates’ personal property. The incumbent must also adhere to definite procedures established by the department to ensure that inmates’ constitutional rights are observed.

This position does not supervise other employees.

$51,661‑$57,453 per year plus incentive pay for additional and advanced education and certifications. Longevity pay adds $0.50 per hour at 3, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years.
