SAFETY SENSITIVE:
Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
The purpose of this job is to supervise persons serving misdemeanor probation sentences or participants in a pre-trial intervention program. Work includes, but is not limited to, monitoring all aspects of a probationer's compliance with reporting, payment of fines and fees, completion of community service work, and completion of required courses, treatment programs and other conditions of probation.

- Friday; 8am-6pm, 10 hour shifts.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.
Associates Degree or two years of advanced education (90 quarter hours/60 semester hours from an accredited institution) or four years of experience as a certified peace officer.
Be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire as specified by the State of Georgia Misdemeanor Probation Oversight requirements.
Requires the ability to be accepted into POST Academy within one year of date of hire and satisfactorily complete requirements for Sworn Certification.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Law Enforcement POST certification, additional post-secondary education, military experience and/or probation experience preferred.
Duties- Supervises persons serving misdemeanor probation and/or participating in a pretrial intervention program.
- Monitors and documents probationers’ compliance with sentence requirements (including reporting, fine and fee payment, performance of community service, and completion of courses, evaluations, counseling and treatment programs).
- Performs initial intake assessment of the probationers and their needs upon entering the program.
- Reports non-compliance of probationer to the sentencing court.
- Prepares court documents relevant to the probationer’s case, e.g. petitions, modifications and warrants.
- Attends probation court hearings and testifies as necessary.
- Communicates and coordinates with relevant interested parties regarding the supervision of probationers, e.g. employers, law enforcement, or counselors.
- May function in an on-call capacity to support law enforcement needs.
- Assigns and monitors community service requirements with each offender.
- Participates in continuing education to maintain professional competence and certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the judicial system, probation case management, and rehabilitation practices.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local rules, regulations, ordinances, and other regulatory standards applicable to the work.
- Knowledge of available community resources and social service resources applicable to probation case management.
- Knowledge and skills in operating personal computers, standard office equipment and software applications, e.g., word processors, database software, spreadsheet applications.

Physical RequirementsMust be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a two-way radio, motor vehicle, firearm, handcuffs and telephones. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
