Position SummaryThe purpose of the Relief Pharmacist is to provide coverage in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Pharmacy for filling and approving prescriptions, and providing guidance to clinical and technical staff regarding effects of medications.
Duties / Responsibilities- Compounding / Filling prescriptions for patients when needed
- Sign off on prescription formulations
- Oversight of pharmacy when the managers are unavailable
- Counsel clinicians, clients and technical staff on prescribed medications
- Refill medication dispensing system (CUBEX)
- Bachelor Degree or Pharm
D in Pharmacy - Current State of GA license to practice as a Pharmacist
- Exposure to veterinary prescriptions for both large and small animals preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours weekly which may include weekends and holidays
- Competent in providing quality control in a fast paced compounding pharmacy environment
- Knowledge of Pharmacy law and compliance guidelines
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery.
- Wearing all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc.
- Work for long periods of time with arms extended.
